Quote(s) Of The Day

Comedian Kat Williams absolutely slays me. If you haven't seen him check it out, I've got a clip below.

"Enjoy your god damn life, life is fuckin' short enjoy that shit. Some of you all just need to smoke some weed and see if it don't help the quality of your mother fuckin' life."

"Don't gimme that shit about it's a drug, it aint not mother fucking drug I dun done the research. It's just a plant, it just grow like that. And if you should happen to set it on fire there are some effects. But that's not the same as drugs."

HOT SEXY EYEGASMS!

AUGUST 7TH 2009 AUGUST 7TH 2009 I'm pretty excited for AUGUST 7th, GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra comes out and I absolutely can not wait to see it. Not only was I all about GI Joe when I was a wee lass, but I'm all about Channing Tatum NOW. To be honest I thought that the cast would be a little more stacked but Dennis Quaid, Marlon Wayans and obviously Channing Tatum are enough to make me go.

Yo WHADDUP

I'm loving Youtube right now and have found a video that I would like to dedicate to Jes.

Oh Lord

I know I have been so absent and that sucks of me. Not like anybody cares. Either way to apologize for my absence here's something that I hope makes YOU smile as much as I do. Hopefully I'll come up with something interested but until then........COURAGE

Psychedelic!

Recently I came across Ryan McGinness, friggin sweet. He makes awesomely colorful and psychedelic "works" everything from welding, buttons and porcelain baked enamel on steel. You should for sure check out his stuff. Ryanmcginness.com . Here are a FEW of his many awesome works.  I couldn't narrow it down, there's a lot.

Disturbing and Strange

I have been racking my brain trying to remember her name and FINALLY I am pleased to bring you Diane Arbus! *the crowd cheers*. Diane Arbus born in 1923 was a female photographer who took disturbing and interesting photos of the strange. She is said to be one of the most influential female american photographers in the 20th century. Take a look at her work, I've only put up a few of my favorites. (The portrait of the woman is Diane Arbus).

Quote(s) Of The Day

I'm going to mix ideas today. My favorite weed quotes:
"Even if one takes every reefer madness allegation of the prohibitionists at face value, marijuana prohibition has done far more harm to far more people than marijuana ever could."- William F. Buckley Jr."

"Forty million Americans smoked marijuana; the only ones who didn't like it were Judge Ginsberg, Clarence Thomas and Bill Clinton." -Jay Leno

"The drug is really quite a remarkably safe one for humans, although it is really quite a dangerous one for mice and they should not use it." - J.W.D Henderson Director of the Bureau of Human Drugs, Health and Welfare, Canada

"When I was a kid I inhaled frequently. That was the point." - Barack Obama

"I think pot should be legal. I don’t smoke it, but I like the smell of it." - Andy Warhol

"I used to smoke marijuana. But I'll tell you something: I would only smoke it in the late evening. Oh, occasionally the early evening, but usually the late evening - or the mid-evening. Just the early evening, midevening and late evening. Occasionally, early afternoon, early midafternoon, or perhaps the late-midafternoon. Oh, sometimes the early-mid-late-early morning. . . . But never at dusk." - Steve Martin

I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is an herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong? - Willie Nelson

Why is marijuana against the law? It grows naturally upon our planet. Doesn’t the idea of making nature against the law seem to you a bit . . . unnatural?” - Bill Hicks

"It really puzzles me to see marijuana connected with narcotics . . . dope and all that crap. It's a thousand times better than whiskey - it's an assistant - a friend."
-  Louis Armstrong

That is not a drug. It’s a leaf,"
- Arnold Schwarzenegger

"Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth & protection of the country."
- Thomas Jefferson

"Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere."
- George Washington'

"The illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world." -  Carl Sagan

WOW

So I've been totally absent for a long time. If you care I'm sorry. First of all I just have to say something about tolerance. Today I very publicly saw a mid-50 year old man verbally berate a late-20 year old gay man. I thought times had changed and that people had become more tolerant and accepting of other peoples choices. Nobody was going up to that old man and berating him because he was smoking a cigar outside of Starbucks, or wearing socks and sandals (which I think is an absolute crime unless you're camping, hungover or it's a last resort). The man wasn't even with another man, he was just standing outside on the phone with someone giving them directions. This old bastard just out of nowhere assumed he was gay and needed him to know how his "god" feels about it. Eff yourself old man. Screw you, your beliefs, your ignorance and your audacity. He didn't choose to love men but he does, you didn't chose to be a man but you do chose to be an asshole. Give it up and mind your manners.

Quote Of The Day

"What the fuck? I didn't buzz you in. How the monkey did you get in here?"- Saul; James Franco

Dubya Tee Eff!?!?!?

What the hell is with all of the messed up people in the news recently!? Though I know that that is what the news is pretty much for, today I was utterly disgusted, for a second time because some freak wanted to father his daughters children. Arcebio Alvarez or the "Monster of Colombia" was arrested on the charges of violent carnal knowledge, abusive sex acts, and incest committed against his 35-year-old daughter. The relationship started with his daughter when she was about 10 years old! SICK! (and not in the good way) As well this incest bastard has fathered 8 of her children! Seriously I don't know how many exclamation points I'm going to need to use to stress my shock. He claimed that his daughter was adopted and was not his biological daughter but blood test confirms that she was his. Nothing like this had ever "surfaced" until the Josef Fritzl case. The Austrian man who kept his daughter in a confined area in the basement of their house and physically and sexually abused her for 24 years. Throughout those 24 years she gave birth to 7 children who were also forced to live in captivity with her and she had one misscarriage. Deeeesssgusting! All I have to say is keep your parts out of your family members. Nobody want's to look like that boy from Deliverance. I can hear the dueling banjos now.

Couldn't Pick

So for my Quote(s) of the day, I'm doing two quotes because this movie has quite a few exceptional quotes and I thought I would make an exception because of that.

" If heaven is such a wonderful place then how come being crucified is such a big fucking sacrifice?" - Igby; Kieran Culkin

" You know what I think when I'm this close to another body? I think one day at one moment... this body that I'm holding in my arms will stop breathing... stop living. Just... stop. One day you'll happen upon my name in the obits and you'll remember this moment when we were so close. " - Sookie; Claire Danes

Who Knew?

Recently while aimlessly searching around the intraspace I found this website, Marijuana.com. Now for sure I did NOT think that it was going to be "An Herb Garden of Knowledge"as the website deems itself. When I first clicked the link I expected it to be a link to a right wing, PTA, hate group, falsified "research" database of marijuana slander. Obviously I was wrong. Marijuana.com, a fountain of knowledge regarding, recent research, product reviews, marijuana related news and more dope conversation, literally. This site is the Onion of weed information minus the satire. Also it contains a forum where people can chat about whatever related or irrelevant topics they come up with, AND it has a recipe forum! Culinary Marijuana, to be honest I didn't expect this day to come. So today for my poorly updated Chronology that I said I would be supplying you with I shed the light on Marijuana.com. Because it's not like I'm more knowledgeable than the Herb Garden. Marijuana Myth #1) Marijuana use is increasing at an alarming rate Truth: According to government surveys of the general population, marijuana use began decreasing in 1980, after more than a decade of steady increase. By 1990, the downward trend showed signs of slowing, but use-rates remained substantially lower than those recorded in the 1970s. Thanks to Marijuana.com
Adolescence is a time of experimentation, with drug use as well as other activities. Most adolescent drug users do not go on to become "drug abusers." Indeed, most adolescent drug users, after a few years of experimentation, cease using illegal drugs altogether.

This Blows!

Well not literally, I was trying to be funny. Mostly I just think you should check out this website, glasspipes.org pretty sweet. It's an "Online community for Glass Pipes" where people post pictures of pipes they have blown and such. As well this website isn't only a home to hand made glass paraphernalia there are also other glass items you may browse and purchase online, and communities throughout the website about other things. But really glass blown art is just unbelievably mind blowing and if only I knew how, I would make so many intricate contraptions. I just think it is such an ill recognized art form. (the pictures I have chosen are all of glass pipes. . . pretty nutty, eh?)

Sweet Style

While keeping myself well updated in BOOOOOOOM!, as usual I came across Nickolej Villiger. When I went to do a little bit of research on this Calgary, AB native all I could really find were his Flickr and his Facebook. So I will just leave you with a few of his 70's style inspired prints. I love the Peace sign one. It's called "Give Peace A Chance" SO CUTE!

Morcheeba

So I have another band to expose you to. Not so new but still good, I just found my "Big Calm" CD and haven't stopped listening to it since I've found it. Morcheeba is a British band that pretty much breaks a lot of genre boundaries. They've been around since 1995. Their sixth album, "Dive Deep" came out in 2008. The four original members went separate ways. The two remaining members, Paul and Ross Godfrey the two founding members of the band multi-instrumentalists asked vocalist Skye Edwards to leave the band. They also had another singer, Daisy Martey who wasn't nearly as good as Skye Edwards in my oppinion, was also dismembered. Then there was Jody Sternberg for their live performances and then for the Dive Deep tour the French singer Manda sang for them. They were kinda tough to get along with I suppose. Either way check them out. My favorite song is probably Shoulder Holster or Part of the Process. Their music is so chill and kinda bluegrassy mixed with Jazz mixed with pop I don't even know how to explain it because that does not give it justice at all!

53rd at 3rd

In Manhattan at 53rd and 3rd the Lipstick building resides. Standing at 453 feet tall it was built in 1986 and designed by architect Philip Johnson. Doesn't it look like a giant lipstick? Crazy! The coolest part is that it actually has a red sheen to it especially at night. It is pretty sweet looking.

Mark Ryden

These are some pictures from a painter named Mark Ryden. His Bio is pretty sweet you should def read it. The paintings are different, fantasy, surreal kind of pushing the boundaries. My favorite Galleries are The Tree Show, Blood and Gallery Three. All of them are worth taking a look at though. I love the Jimi Hendrix one and the girl crying blood one also I want to go to see his gallery in Seattle. Road Trip?

BOOOOOOM! He's Done It Again!

As I'm sure you've seen BOOOOOOOM! Has opened my eyes to another wonderful artist. Her name is Marguerite Sauvage and she does beautiful illustrations. Mostly of people or sometimes people bodies with animal heads. I love the use of colour and white. Like how she'll colour the main focus of the picture in a bright colour to draw your eyes in but then still outline other also important entities in bright colours. BRILLIANT! Her website obviously gives you a better look at her works but I chose quite a few because I just couldn't choose. I think my favorite has to be the ultra-luxurious looking girl chillin with the iguanas. Although the banjo playing monkey (below) def has a place in my heart.

A Barrel of Fun!

The April 2009 cover of Vanity Fair was absolutely AMAZING! I was so excited to see Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel and Paul Rudd adorned in barrels in a O' Brother Where 'Art Thou style cover. As Well the inside of the magazine showed Rogen, Segel and Hill in nude unitard bodysuits with Paul Rudd smelling Seth Rogens hair. Calling them "Comedies New Legends" VF opens up to show these people portraying their comedic "part" as well known movie/media figures. Danny McBride "The Breakthrough" as Jack Nicholson in The Shining (I'm a bit confused as to why they chose that instead of something funny) and Russell Brand "The Comic" as Charlie Chaplin. Bill Hader, Anna Farria, Jason Bateman and Leslie Mann as The Honeymooners (my favorite!). Paul Rudd "The Role Model" playing Jack Lemmon in Frankenstein, Jonah Hill "The Chopper" as George Washington? I think? That's the only connection I can make with the picture. As well it shows Amy Poehler, Will Arnett, Jason Segel, Seth Rogen but I don't want to ruin the whole fun of it for you. Seth Rogens is pretty hilarious.

An Addition To The Blog

So Fraggle Rock now has a little sister, Picture Show. There's a new link on my sidebar, because I'm all about easy access. Basically I post pictures that I randomly take and that I like. Another exciting thing, totally to do with this is I registered for school. I'm going to be studying Photojournalism and Commercial Photography, which I'm really excited about so hopefully my picture taking abilities get better as time progresses.

Stand Up Against C-15!

I was told about this website that was an online petition against C-15, called
whyprohibition.ca . A compilation of user blogs, political banter and it gives common people the easy access to stand up and fight to shoot down prohibition. People who may not feel the need to stand up publicly to do so can now anonymously protest against it.

Bill C-15 is " an act to amend the Controlled Drugs and Substances and to make related and consequential amendments to other acts" - The Minister of Justice- The Hon. Robert Douglas Nicholson. Basically this bill is about giving people who are facing drug charges a minimum sentence penalty. Much like the United States. It basically takes the judges job away from them. There is no case specifics, every case is dealt with as if it was like the last. One case will set president and the rest will have to be subject to it's doom.

Marijuana is less harmful than alcohol, cigarettes and McDonalds so why the bad wrap? If controlled the government could thrive on BC's perfect cannabis growing climate. Mass produce it, different strains, different prices, different highs or uses and tax it. They would be making money off of a less toxic habit. Though studies have shown that marijuana does affect your mobility skills and your thought processes short term (when you're high) there are no definitive long term health issues. Unlike smoking cigarettes which contain more poisons and toxins than I could even imagine sucking into my body, or alcohol which permanently damages your liver. People in China have been using cannabis since 6000 BC! They put it to use as a health aid, smoking it alleviates pain and they took advantage.

If the government was smart enough to harvest this god given miracle plant they could genetically alter it to be a super-drug. Think about if the government took just a little bit of the money that they have for AIDS and Cancer funding and put it towards scientists who's job was to find the exact cannaboids to breed and make a plant that has less side effects than pain killers but is specialized to each type of disease. They've already taken the first step in making medicinal use of marijuana legal. People with Crones disease, or Rheumatoid Arthritis can go in and get a bag of dry chalky buds and smoke it to alleviate their pain. So what's so bad about the rest of us doing it?

Go to the sight and take a stand against Bill C-15. Why take a step backwards when we were going the right way in the first place?

As well the blog post "Shit Or Get Off The Pot" was my fav so far. Check it out.
